The heart of Bar Selecta — a 10-seater Japanese music bar centred around our audiophile-grade vinyl sound system. Perfect for smaller, high-end gatherings or pre-dinner drinks.
Capacity: up to 10 guests (public access during trading hours) -
Our most versatile and bookable area. A warm private lounge adjoining the main bar, ideal for small functions, intimate celebrations, or brand events. A dedicated bartender will be assigned to your group.
Capacity: 20–24 guests. Shared or exclusively yours. -
An open, laneway-style courtyard connecting Bar Selecta to the lane and Glenferrie Road — ideal for mingling, drinks or enjoying fresh air between sets.
While this area remains a general entry and exit point, guests from reserved bookings are welcome to enjoy the relaxed courtyard vibe throughout the evening.
Shared access — up to 15 casual seated and up to 20 standing guests at any time.
Our Listening Lounge
Host your next intimate gathering in our Listening Lounge — a private space for up to 24 guests, complete with audiophile-grade sound, vinyl selections, and dedicated bar service.
Our Courtyard
Our Courtyard offers an open-air escape tucked behind the laneway — seating up to 20 guests with ambient lighting, soft music, and a relaxed, social atmosphere.

Each booking runs for a 2-hour period due to our intimate size.
We recommend earlier sessions (4 -6pm or 5–7pm) as the venue can reach peak capacity after 8pm. The main listening bar remains open to the public during all trading hours.*Please note: Should your guests choose to continue staying on after the 2-hour time slot, you will be requested to leave and re-enter the premises to allow for other guests to have an opportunity to enter our venue. This depends on the queue and waitlines at the main entry.

Courtyard – shared entry & outdoor access, 10-20 guests
Main Listening Bar – open to the public, walk-ins only..

For small, casual group visits under 10 pax, please book via Open Table. For larger groups or exclusive use of the Courtard or Listening Lounge, please enquire directly. Parties with exclusive use of the Listening Lounge or Courtyard require a min. $ spend. This will be confirmed directly by the team and guest numbers.
Please note: We have a maximum capacity of 40 guests at any one time. -
1.Larger groups (up to 15 pax), a $50 deposit is required.
2.Private functions & Events, a $250 deposit is required to secure your booking for exclusive use of the Courtyard and/or Listening Lounge). This deposit will be refunded once your minimum spend is met. If the minimum spend is not reached, your deposit will be used as part of the min. spend.
*Minimum spends vary depending on group size and exclusivity. This will be confirmed by our team.

We offer light catering from our friends at Future Canteen (Malvern) — assorted sushi and snack boxes that pair beautifully with our drinks.
Please place catering orders at least one business day before your event.
